The Metabolism-Mental Health Connection: Help Shape Future Research!

Our Second Priority Setting Partnership Survey

A few months ago, we launched the first stage of a Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) to gather views on the most important unanswered questions about the links between metabolism and mental health. More than 400 people took part, including individuals living with severe mental illness (SMI), their family members, and healthcare professionals. From their contributions, we created a long list of questions that reflect what matters most to those directly affected.

We are now moving to the second stage of the PSP. We need your help to decide which questions researchers should focus on to improve the metabolic health of people living with SMI.

What are we asking you to do?

We have created a list of 49 questions based on the submissions from the first survey.

  • First, you will be asked to select all the questions you think are important.

  • Then, you will be asked to narrow your selection down to your top 10.

The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete.

Your answers, together with those from other participants, will help us create a shortlist of the most important questions. In the final stage, an online workshop will bring together people living with SMI, their supporters, and healthcare professionals to agree on the Top 10 research priorities in metabolic psychiatry. If you would like to take part in this workshop, you will be able to sign up at the end of the survey.

The survey is open until the end of October 2025 — please take part and share your thoughts on the research questions that matter most. Scan the QR code below or use this link to complete the survey:

Together, we can ensure that future research prioritises the aspects that matter most to people with SMI.
